Steps to set up a business in an industrial acceleration zone
Step 1: Choose the zone and prepare the project
Identify the free zone relevant to your activity (Tanger Med, Midparc, Kénitra, etc.).
Check eligibility according to the zone's requirements. Prepare a feasibility study and investment plan (export-focused industrial or service activity).
Step 2: Compile and submit the application file
The file is submitted to the zone’s management authority, which processes the request and forwards it to the Unified Regional Investment Commission (CRUI) for review.
Documents include an official application, negative certificate if required, and lease/purchase agreement for the premises.
Step 3: Decision and installation
Once reviewed, authorization to operate is granted by the Wali or Governor, with CRUI’s positive opinion. Normal processing time is about 30 days.
Upon obtaining authorization, sign the lease/purchase, prepare the site according to requirements, and start the activity after validation of installations.
Step 4: Choose legal structure and deposit capital
After authorization, choose the legal form (SARL, SA, etc.) and deposit share capital with an approved bank. You must have a professional lease or registered address before company registration.
Step 5: Registration and administrative filings
Register the company with the Trade Register, obtain the Company Identification Number (ICE), Professional Tax (Patente), and register with CNSS. These steps give the business full legal status.
Step 6: Tax, social, and customs declarations
The company must complete all tax, social, and customs filings as required. If partners reside in Morocco, approval from the Foreign Exchange Office may be needed.
